Itinerary

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Your tour commences with an arrival transfer to your 4 star hotel.

This morning your tour guide will pick you up after breakfast and will drive you to Galle, on the way you can visit the Turtle Hatchery (optional) or do a boat tour on the Madu River (optional). Distance from Colombo to Galle is 150 km and you will reach Galle within 2 hrs 15 minutes. Next check in into your hotel. In the afternoon, your tour guide will accompany you on a walking tour through what is the best-preserved colonial town in Sri Lanka, Galle Fort.

After breakfast in the morning, your Tour Guide will pick you up for the journey to the up-country of the Island via visiting Udawalawe National Park and Ravana Waterfall. Distance from Galle to Ella is 200 km and you will reach Ella within 3 hrs 30 minutes.

Safari in Udawalawe National Park – The national park is situated just south of the Central Highlands, of which escarpment brings about an enrapturing backdrop. At the centre of the park lies the Udawalawe Reservoir. Udawalawe National Park was established in the year 1972, with the objective of protecting the catchment area of Udawalawe reservoir and many elephants can be seen here in their natural habitat. Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka is famous for its elephant population. It is the ideal place to visit if you are an elephant lover. The park provides shelter to more than 500 resident elephants. The largest population of Asian Elephants live in the Udawalawe National Park.

Today, you will get to enjoy the unforgettable experience of the scenic train ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya. As you get off from the train at Nuwara Eliya, your guide will be there waiting to pick you up. On your way to Kandy, you will see how the world-famous Ceylon tea is made at a tea factory, you will have the opportunity to participate in a tea tasting session. By the afternoon you will reach the ancient hill capital city of Kandy and you will be dropped off at your hotel for resting and relaxation. Distance from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy is 100 km and you will reach Kandy within 3 hrs 15 minutes.

In the afternoon you will be taken to visit the most sacred temple in Sri Lanka, Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Today you will have to say goodbye to the beautiful hill capital Kandy and start your journey towards the North Central province of the island. On the way to Sigiriya you will visit a spice garden in Matale with a cooking demonstration and then see the ancient stone temple of Nalanda Gedige near Matale. Distance from Kandy to Sigiriya is 93 km and you will reach Kandy within 2 hrs 30 minutes.

After that, you will visit the ancient Cave Temples of Dambulla Raja Maha Viharaya on your way to Sigiriya. Be prepared for a steep climb when you are visiting this temple, however you will not regret the view and magnificent ancient architecture after reaching the top. At the end of the day, you will be dropped at your hotel for your well needed rest and relaxation.

On Day 8 you will get to see the world famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is best to climb the rock in the morning to avoid the midday heat. And it is best to wear your runners or hiking shoes for grabbing this experience, as you will be climbing very steep, narrow staircases to get to the top to experience the breathtaking view. Later you will be driven to Polonnaruwa for the Polonnaruwa Archaeological city tour. Distance from Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa is 60 km and you will reach Polonnaruwa within 1 hrs 15 minutes.

After that you will be driven to Trincomalee, the east coast city of Sri Lanka. Distance from Sigiriya to Trincomalee is 100 km and you will reach Kandy within 2 hrs.

This day will be a busy day again after getting some well needed rest during the last day. Today is the safari day. Say goodbye to Trincomalee and start your journey back to the west coast of the country in the early morning. On the way you will visit the Wilpattu National Park for a safari trip. After finishing the safari, you will be driven to your last destination of the round trip, Negombo.Distance from Trincomalee to Wilpattu is 145 km and you will reach Wilpattu within 2 hrs and 45 minutes.

Safari in Wilpattu National Park (optional) – We will be visiting Wilpattu National Park and go on an adventurous safari. The park consists of Sri Lanka’s original tropical beauty of nature and biodiversity. Wilpattu National Park is one of the country’s oldest national parks and the largest national park in Sri Lanka. Wilpattu National Park is famous for leopards, sloth bears, golden jackals, mongoose, spotted deer, loris, and owls. Also, travelers can enjoy the beauty of the numerous birds, flowers, and plants.
