Your trip starts with picking you up at the airport or any designated location near Colombo and driving you to the hotel in Kandy. Depending on your arrival times and your jet lag either we could directly drop you off at the hotel to get some well needed rest or otherwise you have the option of stopping at Mawanalla Spice Garden. Distance from Bandaranaike International airport to Kandy is about 106 Km and it would take about 3 hours depending on the traffic.

The Mawanalla Spice Garden is a lush, green paradise that offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about Sri Lanka’s rich spice heritage and experience the sights, scents, and flavors of various spices and herbs that are grown in the region. The garden spans across several acres and is meticulously maintained by local farmers who are experts in cultivating spices.

Day 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka offers an immersive experience into the city’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty. Rise up early to experience the daily morning prayer ritual ceremony at Sri Dalada Maligawa, after which you can embark on a city tour to discover highlights. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, known for its stunning collection of orchids and other tropical plants. Explore Kandy Lake, a picturesque man-made lake that is an important landmark of the city.

Later get a taste of local life by visiting Kandy’s bustling markets. Explore the vibrant colors and flavors of the Kandy Central Market, where you can find fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and local handicrafts. Indulge in some local street food and interact with friendly locals to get a glimpse of Kandy’s everyday life. In the evening you have the option of going into the cultural dance show where you can witness the vibrant costumes, rhythmic drumming, and mesmerizing dance movements that showcase the country’s unique art forms. Later in the evening you can go explore the Kandy nightly life or relax at the hotel.

Today is an exciting day as you will be taken on one of the most scenic train rides in the country. You will be driven by car by your Tour Guide from Kandy to Nanu Oya station near Nuwara Eliya and on the way you will get to see how the world-famous Ceylon tea is made and have the chance to participate in tea tasting sessions too. The distance from Kandy to Nanu Oya, Sri Lanka is approximately 62 kilometers (38.5 miles) and takes about 3 hours when traveling by road.

Then from Nanu Oya to Ella you will have the once-in-a-lifetime train ride. The train journey between Nanu Oya and Ella is one of the most scenic train rides in Sri Lanka, known for its picturesque landscapes, tea plantations, and mist-covered mountains. The train route passes through lush green hills, tea estates, and picturesque villages, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the train schedule and stops along the way. By the time you reach Ella your Tour Guide will be at Ella train station to pick you up and drop you off at the hotel for rest and relaxation.

Fourth day in Ella, Sri Lanka can be filled with a variety of tour activities that showcase the natural beauty, cultural charm, and adventure opportunities of this scenic hill country destination.

You will start your day with a hike to Little Adam’s Peak, which is a popular trekking destination in Ella known for its stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and tea plantations. The hike takes about 30-45 minutes and offers breathtaking vistas of the lush green valleys and peaks. Next, you can visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the “Bridge in the Sky.” This beautiful railway bridge is known for its architectural marvel and picturesque setting amidst lush greenery. You can walk along the railway tracks and capture some stunning photos of the bridge and the surrounding scenery.

After that you will be dropped off at the hotel to enjoy the breathtaking view from your hotel room or catch an afternoon nap. Later you will be given a romantic candlelight dining experience set amidst the stunning landscapes of the surrounding tea plantations and mountains. Later depending on your choice you can go out to enjoy the nightclubs and pubs in Ella town or continue to relax at the hotel.

On day 5, you will reach the south coast of the country via visiting Ravana Waterfall and the Elephant Transit Home at Udawalawe. You will be able to experience the unfathomable wildlife right in front of your eyes, a rare experience to have! Also it is an option to go on a safari at Udawalawe National Park. The drive from Ella to Udawalwa is about 2 hours. After visiting Udawalawe Elephant Transit Centre, we will continue our way to the South Coast, where we will drop you off at the hotel for beach, rest, and relaxation. The drive from Udawalawe to Weligama is about 2 hours. The next few days you can spend your time at the beach sipping cocktails.

If your flight is in the evening or late at night, we can organize a late check-out from your hotel, subject to availability and additional charges. Late check-out will allow you to have more time to explore the city or relax before your departure. You can store your luggage at the hotel and enjoy your final day in Sri Lanka without worrying about your belongings. The distance from Weligama to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), which is the main international airport in Sri Lanka, is approximately 170 kilometers and usually takes about 2.5 hours by car.
